Who may obtain a copy of a marriage certificate?
Certified marriage certificates, in general, may only be obtained by the bride or groom listed on the certificate or a parent of the bride or groom listed on the certificate.
What is required before you obtain a copy of a Marriage Certificate?

A Government issued picture ID (Driver's License, State ID Card) if requesting a Certified Marriage Certificate.

A fee of $25.00 for the first copy and $15.00 for any additional copies requested at that time.
How can you obtain a copy of a marriage certificate?
Either way you choose, you will need to provide us with the following information:

The name of the Spouse A (legal name used prior to marriage)

The name of the Spouse B (legal or maiden name used prior to marriage)

The date and city of marriage
Before sending your request, be sure the marriage occurred in Adams County.
In Person - Stop by our office at 507 Vermont St, Quincy, IL. Our hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm. You need to have your ID and payment. We accept cash, check, or credit card.
By Mail - Send your request form, check made payable to Adams County Clerk, a copy of your photo ID, and a self-addressed stamped envelope to 507 Vermont St, Quincy, IL. Please print clearly and legibly.
