Text to 9-1-1

Call if you Can, Text if you Can’t

Text-to-911 is available in Adams County and can provide a lifesaving option for people in situations where they cannot speak safely- such as home invasions or active shooter incidents – and for those who are deaf, hard of hearing or have difficulty speaking.

Calling 9-1-1 is always preferred. Voice calls allow 9-1-1 dispatchers to gather more information more quickly in an emergency.

If you attempt to send a text message to 911 where text-to-911 service is unavailable, you will receive an immediate return message informing you text-to-911 is not available and advising you to contact emergency services by another means such as a voice call.
